Burlington Town Center owner Don Sinex watched in astonishment Tuesday night as an overflow crowd packed a public meeting in the mall where he hopes to engineer a $200 million makeover of the struggling property.
“I’m overwhelmed,” he said before a presentation of what he hopes are final plans for the project.
Before the meeting began at 5:30 p.m., a line of people stretched nearly from L.L. Bean to Williams-Sonoma on the lower level of the mall, waiting to enter the vacant retail clothing store where the presentation was held. Williams-Sonoma is in the final days of a going-out-of-business sale, as the store announced it would leave the mall Jan. 18. Other retailers also are shutting their doors, or already have departed.
